David Caméo has spent his career serving the decorative arts. A politics graduate, he was an advisor on the decorative arts for the French Ministry of Culture, before becoming a technical advisor for successive culture ministers and then-Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. In 2003 he became head of the world-renowned French government-owned porcelain company Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, later also heading up the Cité de la Céramique Sèvres, which includes the Musée National de Céramique in Sèvres and, from 2012, its sister museum in Limoges. In 2014 he returned to Paris where he ran the Musée des Arts Decoratifs (MAD) for four years.
